My journey to become a child psychiatrist , particularly an autism specialist, began as a young girl, when my brother was diagnosed with autism.

Well before my professional career even started, I was immersed in the autism world. My brother Andy was diagnosed with autism at age 2. As we grew up together, I became his communicator, interpreter, playmate and advocate. And during this time, he also became my best friend.

As a child I was surrounded by neurodiversity.

I engaged in therapeutic and structured play groups as a neurotypical peer and learned so much from those experiences. I was very lucky to experience first-hand the wonderful and far-reaching effects that a multi-disciplinary team of teachers, doctors, therapists, and extended family had on my brother, and by extension me and the rest of my family.

However, as I got older, I realized that not everyone on the autism spectrum receives the comprehensive array of services that my brother had.

It was then, as a young adult, that I decided to dedicate my career to helping individuals with autism thrive.

Since starting my professional career as an autism mental health specialist 10+ years ago, I have  helped hundreds of families, ranging from toddlers to adults.

As a Certified Autism Specialist, I have given talks on autism symptoms and the sibling experience at conferences and academic institutions. I have worked in the autism space as an ABA therapist, psychiatrist, and sibling advocate for over 10 years.

After I completed my undergraduate degree, I decided to go to medical school to become a psychiatrist.

Training in a psychiatry residency and pediatric psychiatry fellowship at top hospitals in the country, I am uniquely equipped and ready to help families and patients coordinate the health sector of the autism space and treat associated mental health struggles.

My story & passion for neurodiverse individuals & families

Everything I teach about, I also resonate with on a personal level.

My brother and I were born one year apart. Being this close in age, we grew up in sync with each other. I vividly remember when he was diagnosed, and the ripple effects of emotion this stirred in our family.

I remember sitting on the other side of the treatment rooms, watching him doing evaluations, testing, and therapies. Through these experiences, I have come to know the triumphs and heartbreaks in the autism family journey. Through it all, I learned to find joy and celebration in every accomplishment, big or small.

My calling as a child psychiatrist, autism specialist, and teacher feels natural to me because of my bond with Andy.

Andy is my meaning and inspiration in life. At age 28, I lost my brother Andy to a fatal seizure. After his passing, I took time to reflect on his life and everything he taught me about living life to the fullest with autism.

Finally, my vision developed into and accessible online community disseminating real information to families coming together to maximize potential and happiness for individuals on the autism spectrum.

I strive to honor his legacy with my work in medicine as an autism care specialist.

It is common for parents of autistic people to experience a great deal of uncertainty, apprehension, frustration, and concern.

I created this community to help you take control of your uncertainty and learn to navigate life with autism. My goal is to help you get zen with the uncharted territory and feel supported in your journey.
